Electromechanical Devices Workshop
Over a dozen community college and high school semiconductor manufacturing instructors from around the country attended a four day, MATEC sponsored, Electromechanical Devices workshop held at Mesa Community College, Mesa Arizona (May 18-21).
John Bentley, James Harter, Charles Klement, and Scott Shaw (Mesa Community College) presented this hands-on workshop. The workshop topics included: course outlines, suggestions for selecting lab equipment on a budget, laboratory materials for electromechanical devices/automation experiments, and hands-on labwork in, electromechanics, mechanics, pneumatics, and programmable logic controllers.
Semiconductor Manufacturing Process Workshops
MATEC recently sponsored two Semiconductor Manufacturing Process (SMP) workshops. One of the SMP workshops was presented by Randy Smith and Bill Mays from Texas State Technical College TSTC) at their facilities in Sweetwater, Texas (May 27- 30). The other SMP workshop was presented by Lakshmi Munukutla and James Fordemwalt (Arizona State University East Mesa, Arizona) hosted the other SMP workshop (June 2-4) at Arizona State University East and Arizona State Main Campus.
Both workshops combined lectures with hands-on laboratory experiences and provided participants the opportunity to process silicon wafers. The participants of the workshops included high school teachers, community college and university faculty teaching in a semiconductor manufacturing technology program, chemistry, physics, mathematics or general science.
