PC Architecture

 

T

his workshop brings to participants a modern knowledge of PC Architecture at the Pentium 4 level.  The topical content includes: system overview, memory, interrupts, peripherals, and storage, interfaces, audio and visual, and troubleshooting PC systems.  Participants also gain hands-on experience using the Discovery 2000 test system to explore motherboard functions.  The materials and methods in this course were developed in collaboration with the Intel Corporation.

 

Participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding and ability to analyze basic components, parameters, configurations and improvements in PC Architecture and their impact on system performance and fault diagnosis. Learners can apply this knowledge in such diverse areas such as production troubleshooting, component manufacturing, technical support, product development, audio and music technology, communications, consumer products and other disciplines where microprocessor controlled systems play a key role. Each participant will receive workbooks and an Intel PC Architecture CD-ROM self-tutorial.

Faculty Workshop Fee: $250

Non-Faculty Workshop Fee: $1,200

PLEASE NOTE:  You will be responsible for your ground transportation to and from the workshop site.  Please make arrangements prior to your arrival.

 

How does it work?

  • Complete and return the workshop registration form to MATEC via mail or fax at (480) 517-8669.  Full payment must accompany registration form.  Registration closes two weeks prior to the workshop.  Please register as soon as possible; spaces fill up quickly.

  • Make your own hotel and travel arrangements to the workshop site.  Due to the 5:00pm ending time of the workshop, the earliest possible airplane departure from the site is 6:30pm. MATEC will not accommodate early departures.

  • Additional details will be mailed/faxed to you as a confirmation.

Cancellation Policy:

Workshops may be subject to cancellation, and workshop dates, offerings, and locations are subject to change up to 7 days prior to the advertised start of the workshop.  In the event of any of the aforementioned items happening, MATEC will update the changes on its website (www.matec.org) and inform all registered participants of the change via email.  Any workshop fees that have been received at MATEC will be returned/credited to your institution/company.  It is strongly recommended to purchase refundable tickets when making airline reservations.  MATEC will not be responsible for non-refundable tickets.  You may cancel your registration up to 7 days prior to the workshop and your workshop fee will be refunded.  If you need to cancel less than 7 days prior to the workshop, you may send a substitute from your institution/company.  No refunds will be given for cancellations given less than 7 days prior to the workshop.
